AS A DOMAIN OWNER, YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY FOR EVERYONE ON YOUR EMAIL SERVER.

What is sikkerpånettet.dk (Secure on the net)?

At sikkerpånettet.dk, you can check whether your internet connection is up to date. As a domain owner, you are responsible for security on your website and your email server – for your own protection as well as for the protection of your users. Sikkerpånettet.dk tests whether your website, email server and internet connection comply with contemporary and reliable security standards.

And, if not, the tool will help you to do something about it. Test your setup, it only takes 10 seconds.

Sikkerpånettet.dk was developed by Punktum dk to complement our efforts to promote web development in society. Sikkerpånettet.dk can be used to test the security of a website, email server or internet connection.

Our aim was to create a tool that does more than simply perform a test. The idea is also to explain steps you can take to make a website or email server more secure. The test covers the most important aspects but does not cover everything. Taking action based on the test results will help improve internet security for these aspects. The test displays the results on a scale of 0% to 100%.

Please note that there may be relevant reasons why the result is not 100%. As with many other things, when it comes to security, you must strike a balance between accessibility and security.

Target group

Sikkerpånettet.dk targets primarily companies, organisations and associations that use a domain name for a website or an email server. That is to say, a domain name that has user and customer traffic. This tool can also be used to help improve security and offer users services that are a little safer.

National recommendations

Sikkerpånettet.dk upholds contemporary internet standards and security measures recommended by the Danish Centre for Cyber Security. Government authorities are required to comply with several of the security measures that are tested for here. However, it is a good idea for everyone, including private individuals, businesses of all sizes and other public-sector institutions in Denmark, to comply with them. You can read more about the technical minimum requirements for government authorities here. You can read more about the Centre for Cyber Security’s recommendations in their guides here.

Technological partner This testing tool was originally an initiative of the Dutch Internet Standards Platform and the Dutch government (internet.nl). NLnet Labs (https://www.nlnetlabs.nl) is responsible for the underlying technological platform, while operations in the Netherlands are provided by Prolocation.
